How to Support Cheltenham small businesses

During these difficult times, we have been amazed by the agility and creativity of our small business graphic and web design clients, as well as many other independent Cheltenham businesses. We have also been impressed with the speed and care with which Cheltenham community networks have been set up to aid the most vulnerable members of our society.

The impact COVID-19 has had across many businesses and sectors, large and small, has been devastating. But we personally wanted to give a special shout out to the small independent Cheltenham businesses that contribute so much to our local economy, and give our town such identity and diversity.

Here are a few ways you can support independent Cheltenham businesses and give them the chance to continue to be a part of our community when we emerge from lockdown:

Many of our favourite local pubs are struggling. CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) is calling on pub companies large and small to cancel rent for their tenants during the Covid-19 crisis.

Edward Anderson, owner of The Vine, The Swan and The Railway was one of many thousands of publicans to post their keys to their MP in a bid to gain their support to cancel rent. Please follow, share and like their posts and help #saveyourlocal.

Now is the perfect time to check out what’s available inside your local shop, rather than struggle through an uncomfortable shop in one of the big supermarkets. Whilst every newsagent, off licence, butcher, baker and candlestick maker has different stock, I personally have found a huge variety of food available… including… dare I say it… flour!

La Boulangerie Artisan French Bakery

Providing the most amazing organic sourdough through a hatch (less need to scour the big Cheltenham supermarkets for flour).

Bath Road Beers

Community Support

As well as the much needed central hub for Gloucestershire, there are many local area community support networks such as:
