Case study
A website that works as hard as the people behind it
Community Connexions — Charity Website Design
The client
Community Connexions is a Gloucestershire-based community transport charity, helping vulnerable people get where they need to go when they’d otherwise struggle to do so. With 40 years of history behind them and a mission that genuinely matters, their website needed to work as hard as the people behind it.
The challenge
The previous website was holding the charity back in practical, costly ways. Passengers could register without paying, online bookings weren’t possible, and the site was difficult to navigate and heavily text-based. Previous suppliers had sold packages that didn’t cover the basics, leaving staff to manage the shortfall manually — and the phones ringing constantly. They needed a website that actually worked, and a partner who understood the constraints of working with a charity budget without cutting corners.
What we built
We redesigned and rebuilt the Community Connexions website with a focus on clarity, accessibility and function. Passenger registration and journey enquiries now flow through the site properly, volunteer driver recruitment is integrated, and the information architecture has been simplified so that the people who need to find things quickly actually can.

The result
The impact has been tangible. Community Connexions has seen a significant uplift in passenger registrations and journey enquiries coming through the website, along with an increase in volunteer driver applications — giving them the capacity to help more people and say no less often. Their previously overstretched phone lines are becoming more manageable as more interactions move online.
“An uplift in volunteer driver enquiries, a large uplift in passenger registration and passengers enquiring through the website about journeys. Our very busy phone lines are becoming more manageable.”
